Grown-up Grilled Cheese

Over Christmas break, while we were up in Sun Valley with the Browns, we had a fun morning of cross-country skiing followed by lunch at the lodge. Jeff and I shared an order of "Grown-up Grilled Cheese," a yummy concoction of sourdough bread, fancy cheese, bacon, and apple slices.

Today, as we scrounged around for lunch, we decided to try to replicate it. What resulted was a truly delicious treat.

I present our version of Grown-up Grilled Cheese:

It's basically pieces of garlic bread (the frozen Costco kind) topped with an apple slice and some shredded cheddar cheese (though slices white cheese would have been better). We broiled it until the cheese melted and the apple softened. Then we dipped it in balsamic vinegar. Yum!

Ha! I'm snorting! These sandwiches have all things my boys love. I wonder if they could handle them together? I love fruit in sandwiches! Isn't it nice having grwon-up taste buds?
